| During his successful career, Marvin has represented
a number of high-profile cases and has tried in excess of
150 cases to verdict. He has represented clients in more than
80 murder cases and tried approximately 50 homicide trials
to verdict.
- Composure in the face of emotional media exposure:
of particular note is Marvin's successful representation
of a 63 year-old grandmother, Herminia Albo, who was falsely
accused of child abuse in an 8 week media barrage. Marvin brought
Ms. Albo to the Grand Jury and successfully presented her
case in the face of adverse political, prosecutorial, and
media pressure.
Her case was dismissed.
- Integrity in cases of discrimination:
Marvin represented school teacher Gary Ranum in Westchester
County. Mr. Ranum was falsely accused of child abuse as
a result of his politically incorrect alternative lifestyle.
Marvin successfully perfected Mr. Ranum's appeal and retired
the case to an acquittal in the face of mounting media pressure
against his client in Westchester.
- Courage in politically-charged situations: during
the New York City corruption investigation of 1986 and 1987,
Marvin successfully represented the New York City Planning Commissioner in the Koch
administration; using his legal talent and expertise to
assure that his client, a practicing lawyer, would not face
the shame and embarrassment of a groundless political indictment
or disciplinary action.
- Expertise with sensitive criminal and disciplinary
matters: Marvin represented Acting Supreme Court Judge Frank Diaz in both criminal and disciplinary actions. The judge
was found not guilty after trial, and the disciplinary matter was resolved
successfully.
- In 2000 Marvin represented an NYC administrator with the
Board of Education on charges of voting fraud, forgery and
conspiracy. After the acquittal Mr. Raskin's client was
fully restored to his position at the Board of Education.
- In 2003 Marvin defended a ground zero supervisor at the
WTC construction site. His client came to the defense of
an innocent victim of police brutality and then was beaten
and arrested for his efforts. Marvin's client was found
not guilty by a jury in Manhattan. He successfully sued the arresting officers and received substantial damages.
Marvin has represented judges and lawyers throughout the State of New
York in both criminal and disciplinary proceedings.
